“Mutoscope”

Description

In the reference photo, this unknown woman ancestor has a look  as though she can see into the future. I hope my oil painting does her justice and lets viewers see into the past. The machine in the background (a mutoscope) and the lady using it are both drawn in white conté . Known in the UK as “What-the-Butler-Saw machines.”, they promised oo-la-la scenes, but delivered pretty tame fare.
