Dan Vance

Resume

Dan Vance is a painter and 2-D artist. Born in a small town in the hills of Virginia, his family came to Cincinnati in the 1950’s to escape the violence of the miners’ strikes.

His curiosity led to degrees in teaching science, mathematics, engineering, and computer science. When on trips to present papers at conferences in the U.S. and Europe, he would visit art museums in his free time.

Around 2006, he started taking drawing courses. This led to his full-time involvement in the Fine Arts Program at the College of Design, Art, Architecture & Planning (DAAP), University of Cincinnati. In 2012, he received a Summerfair Emerging Artists Nomination by DAAP. Recognized as a local emerging artist, he also received awards from Summerfair Cincinnati and the Lancaster (Ohio) Art Festival that funded his first studio. He has exhibited his paintings in the Ohio region and hopes to exhibit nationally.
